BRoP Interview with EB Black

This week's Blog Ring of Power interview is with EB Black, a fellow member with Agent Query Connect.  She has been on the other Ring Sites and is wrapping up her five day tour here on The Write Time.  E.B. Black lives in southern California with her family and two dogs. She spends her time daydreaming about the worlds she will thrown her characters into next and what it would be like to dress up as a necromancer for Halloween.

So Ms. Black is about to share with us some nuggets of wisdom.

Words of Wisdom
  1. Tell us about your route to success – how/when did you decide to self-publish? Did you query an agent first?
How did you handle the editing, proofreading, cover design, etc. I queried agents, but not with Medusa's Desire. I knew I wanted to self-publish this novel and had a feeling that it wasn't what most agents were currently looking for. I believed in my novel and knew I would work hard to try to make it a success. The idea of having control was also appealing to me. I designed the cover myself and hired a great editor to read the story over for me.

  2. What are the most important elements of good writing?

Being able to make the reader sympathize with your characters and desire to see them succeed is more important than anything else.
  3. What tools are must-haves for writers?

A good computer with the internet, Microsoft Word, Photoshop, and Power Point can help you write and publish just about anything.
  4. Do you have any advice for other writers?

Write every day. It will change your life.
  5. What do you feel is the key to your success?

    Persistence gets me through everything.
  6. Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

I'd love to communicate with some of you. If you want to tell me thoughts on my book or what you'd like to see me write in the future, feel free to message me at deathauthor@live.com
  7. What are your current / future project(s)?

I'm finishing up a novella called Pandora's Mistake, which is a retelling of the myth about Pandora and why she really opened the box-for true love.
